If you’ve never purchased a new car before and plan to get financing from your bank or the Hyundai dealership, be prepared to take out full insurance on your new Texas Hyundai before you drive it off the dealer lot. Full coverage is required by the terms of your financing–it protects your investment and safeguards you in case of an accident. If you know how to shop for insurance you can also save a bit of money in the process. Full coverage for your new or used car means carrying the minimum liability insurance required by Texas law (or the amount specified in the loan contract), uninsured motorist coverage where required, and other protections as required–but it doesn’t force you to pay for extras you don’t need.
For example, is there a towing or roadside assistance option in the insurance package? You may be able to save some money by not choosing that coverage for your used car purchase in Houston. Many credit cards provide roadside assistance or towing, and insurance companies don’t pay duplicate coverage claims. Do you really need that insurance on the contents of your trunk? It’s completely up to you, but if you’re trying to save money on your full coverage insurance policy, cut out any options you can live without. The new car purchase you make with your favorite Hyundai dealer rep is an important investment; the right insurance coverage should give you peace of mind as well.

When you shop for a new or used Texas car with the Hyundai dealer rep, there are a few features you should ask the rep about—features that can save you money when it’s time to get full insurance coverage on a new or used car. Many insurance companies in Texas will give you a price break or discount for safety and security features; even some standard equipment is viewed quite favorably by insurers because they reduce the risk of theft or accidents.
Some insurers will give you a price break for driving a car with anti-lock brakes, also known as an ABS system. Does the used Hyundai you’re test-driving feature dual airbags? Some Houston insurance companies like this option, too. One popular discount is given to cars with anti-theft devices, but if your favorite car on the Hyundai dealership lot in Texas doesn’t have one, don’t pass that car by if you really love it. You can purchase inexpensive anti-theft equipment such as “The Club” and your insurance company may still offer the discount. Check with your agent for details, and go to your favorite Texas Hyundai dealer rep with a list of features you’re interested in. New and used cars in Houston come with many safety and anti-theft options—check with your insurer and the Hyundai dealer and you'll be well on your way to a lower insurance bill for your next car.

There are plenty of new and used Hyundais in the Humble Hyundai market, but how do you decide which is right for you—new or used? For many, price is the main factor. If you’re looking for car on a budget chances are you’re looking at used vehicles first. Is a used Pasadena Hyundai right for you? Ask yourself a few questions before you decide. Do you plan on staying in your vehicle for many years, or do you want to get a different model in three to five years to take full advantage of the trade-in value? Do you need a vehicle for work-related travel outside the city or are you planning on driving more locally?
If you need a vehicle for high-mileage travel, a new Hyundai may be the best way to go, but a recent used model with low mileage (and some time left on the warranty) is also something to consider. Try some comparison shopping at your Texas Hyundai dealer to see how the sticker price on the new Hyundai models measure up to a low-mileage used vehicle, but don’t forget that price is only one factor—any warranty coverage, better gas mileage, or extra features are also worth money even if they don't seem to directly affect the amount of your car payments.

If you’re looking in the Pasadena market for a new or used Hyundai, you’ll find plenty of online tools to help you decide what kind of car to buy and what kind of financing is right for you. You'll even get help determining your credit score. One kind of Internet tool available at HumbleHyundai.com you should definitely use is the payment calculator and the purchasing power calculator. What’s the difference between the two?
The payment calculator helps you determine what your monthly payments would be for a given Hyundai for sale at the Texas Hyundai dealer—you put in your car’s purchase price, subtract the down payment and trade-in, plus the term of the car loan and interest rate. This is much different than the purchasing power calculator, which uses the same information in a different way. To determine your buying power for a new or used Texas Hyundai, start by entering the amount of money you can afford to pay for the car each month, plus your down payment, trade-in and other factors. The number you get is how much you can afford to borrow based on your figures.
Consider using the purchasing power calculator before getting pre-approved for a loan amount. You can request the specific amount you got from the purchasing power calculator knowing you’re able to afford financing from the Texas Hyundai dealer or your bank.

The residual value of a new Hyundai is basically how much the car is worth over time after it’s been purchased new, calculated as a percentage of the as-new value of that make and model. If you buy a used Hyundai in Houston, Texas, the price you pay is influenced by the residual value (and other factors including age, condition, and demand). If you buy a new Hyundai, do you need to get one with the highest residual value possible? Not necessarily.
The advantage to buying a new car with high (or at least decent) residual value lies in getting it new and selling or trading it within a few years of purchase. For used cars older than five years, residual value affects the price but may not be a factor when you decide to sell or trade after driving that car for a long time. That said, when shopping for a new Hyundai in Houston, it’s good to know the residual value on a particular make and model so you can be an informed shopper. Is there a model on the Humble Hyundai lot that has a higher price than a slightly different model? Residual value can tell you a lot about why the prices are so different on some models with similar design features. Whether you’re looking for a high-value car with plenty of extras or just need to get from Point A to Point B, taking the mystery out of your car shopping makes you a more confident buyer.

What does it mean when a Hyundai is listed as a discontinued car? It’s one that has been taken out of production and will no longer be made after the final year of manufacture. Casual car buyers often learn by accident that a certain model is discontinued, other times a popular car grabs headlines when it’s learned that no more will be made. Depending on how long you plan to own your car, looking specifically for a discontinued Hyundai at Humble Hyundai could bring an advantage later down the road.
Many buyers want the steepest discount they can get up front. But some car experts say taking a modest discount on a popular discontinued car with a higher residual value can be a good bargain. If you own a discontinued Hyundai with good residual value and want to sell it or trade it in for another model in two or three years, you have more financial leverage when trying to get that next deal. This sort of wheeling and dealing requires some pre-planning; if you buy a new Hyundai in Houston and don’t try to sell or trade for many years, the residual value won’t be as high. If you’re eyeing your next car purchase and do plan to sell or trade within three to five years, check the discontinued new car’s residual value and do a bit of comparison across several models of Hyundai Houston, TX has to offer to see which one has the best resale value down the road. A popular discontinued model may be just what you’re looking for if you plan ahead.

Have you ever gotten a flat tire at night when you’re driving on the interstate during a long road trip? It can take hours before any help arrives, and there may not be any service stations opened for miles. It can be quite an ordeal if you’re ill-prepared for this scenario. Here are some tips from Humble Hyundai to make sure you and your family are prepared in case you are unlucky enough to encounter an (often) unavoidable roadside emergency on their next road trip.
You can buy pre-made roadside emergency kits that are often satisfactory, but it's also fairly easy to create your own. Start by putting a blanket, flashlight, jumper cables, basic medical kit, and flares in your Hyundai car or truck.
Always keep a charged cell phone in your Hyundai. While using a cell phone while actually driving your Hyundai in Houston can be dangerous, having one available to use in case of an emergency allows you to call for a tow truck, or even 911 if needed. If you don’t have a cell phone, consider getting a pre-paid phone as an inexpensive alternative.
If you tire goes flat, it’s important to have a spare tire in your Hyundai, as well as the tools you’ll need to change the tire. If it is a slow leak, you can often use a can of temporary tire foam so you can drive to a repair shop.
Our Texas Hyundai dealership staff works hard to ensure we sell only safe vehicles, but sometimes roadside emergencies happen. Ask our Houston Hyundai service department about the warranties and roadside assistance packages our dealership sells, or that may be included when you purchase your new or used Hyundai in Houston.
